ABOUT DAN

Dan attended Hamden High School in Hamden, CT where he played football and lacrosse.  Immediately after high school he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served on active duty for 6 years and spent an additional year in the reserves.

Dan has worked with many different types of clients: individuals just looking to have more energy and get a good fun workout, parents, children, military special operations personnel (including U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmers), athletes, sports teams, firefighters and police officers.

Dan has also worked with those recovering from injury looking to rehab, individuals fighting a life altering disease, and some who thought that they could never exercise or become healthy.

In the military is where he discovered his passion for physical fitness and training others.  While in the Coast Guard he became a Health Promotion Coordinator and led weekly physical training sessions for groups that often exceeded 100 individuals.  He worked 1 on 1 with many members of his unit to assist them with weight loss and to increase their performance in mandated physical fitness testing.

While stationed in Cape Cod, MA Dan began working as a trainer at CrossFit Cape Cod until eventually getting out of the Coast Guard and moving home with his wife Dana to Hamden, CT.  Once back in Connecticut Dan worked as a trainer at CrossFit Cheshire, CrossFit Milford and CrossFit New Haven.  Eventually Dan rose to the position of Head Coach and Gym Manager at CrossFit New Haven before leaving in the summer of 2011 to open CrossFit True.

Dan is married to the beautiful Dana Rector and has two children, Owen and Kylie.
