Summer is amazing and I am truly saddened when it comes to a close each year. However, there is one particular thing that comes back into play each and every September….Routine.
Summer is flighty….there are no rules, plans can be changed in a moment’s notice, and with more daylight hours there seems to be no rush to get anything accomplished. And although those long summer nights are magical, there is also something special about getting back on track, establishing your routine, and getting down to business.
Here are 5 Benefits for having a Routine
1 Eliminate Procrastination. When there is no schedule, no rush to get things done it’s easy to get lost in thinking about & planning what to do, but never actually doing anything.
2 Less Stressed. What is a big component to stress? Procrastination. But when you have a schedule, you know what you have to do and when, it is easier to check things off your to-do list. As tasks are checked off, you’ll feel more accomplished and relaxed.
3 Better Focus. When you set up a schedule and block off time to complete particular tasks, you won’t put them off until later. You know you have this particular time to get X complete…its now or never and doing it now will leave you feeling satisfied.
4 Avoid Decision Fatigue. We make thousands of decisions a day and each of them takes up time and precious brain power. When we have a schedule, when we have a plan of what to do and when to do it we not only save time, but we can utilize our brain to focus on the task at hand.
5 Have Fun. Although routine may sound boring it will actually allow you more time for the activities you enjoy. Plus, you’ll be able to enjoy them more knowing you have completed your tasks.
