Athlete Spotlight: Courtney

What made you choose CrossFit True?

  • I was looking for a new type of workout after I quit playing tennis and I had heard about Crossfit True from some of my old teammates. 

How long have you been training with us?

  • I’ve been here for a little over 2 years. 

What has been your proudest moment in the past 90 days?

  • My proudest moment was deadlifting 225# for my 1 rep max and finally breaking the 200s. 

When you’re not at the gym, what do you do for work? What do you do for fun?

  • I’m currently a grad student at Quinnipiac. But when I’m not at the gym or at school I like to hangout with my friends. 

How is your nutrition? How has it changed since joining CrossFit True?

  • I think my nutrition was always fair but being at Crossfit True it has definitely made me way more conscious about it and overall even better than it was before. 

What are your 3 favorite movements/exercises? 

  • cleans 

  • box jumps 

  • db snatch 

What is your favorite style workout? (AMRAP, EMOM, Rounds for Time, etc)

  • Rounds for time 

What about your favorite workout?

  • I can’t think of any in particular but I like any workout that has running outside  instead of on a cardio machine. 

Any favorite workout songs? 

  • I don’t really have one because most of the time I forget the music is even on. 

Have you changed physically or mentally since you’ve been working out with us?

  • I have gotten stronger physically but more importantly mentally pushing myself to try again at a weight or movement that I might have failed at once before. 

What are your current goals?

  • My current goal is to get my kipping pull ups more efficient and to some day get a bar muscle up. 

How have your goals changed since you joined? 

  • When I first joined my goal was just to get myself to go to the gym everyday. Now it’s never a chore to go to the gym, it’s honestly my favorite part of my day. 

What has been the biggest surprise since joining CF True?

  • The biggest surprise since joining CF true is how strong I’ve gotten since I started. 

What can you do now that you couldn’t do before joining?

  • Before joining I didn’t know how to do any of the rack movements but now I can do toes to bar and kipping pull ups.

  • After tennis I never really thought I was going to have that team comradery anymore. But, at Crossfit True we do have it! We always push each other to be better and try new things.
