ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT: JEN

What made you choose CrossFit True?

  • I was going to Formula Five Fitness  and unfortunately when COVID happened they decided to close for good. I tried to go to commercial gyms like the Edge but I quickly realized it was not for me.  I decided to try out CF True because I felt like it had a welcoming and inviting atmosphere. 

How long have you been training with us?

-I’ve been back at True for about 6 months now. 

What has been your proudest moment in the past 90 days?

-Getting toes to bar AND completing the last Ruck in the Ruck clinic. I’m terrified of heights so that last Ruck was an accomplishment for me. 

When you’re not at the gym, what do you do for work? What do you do for fun?

-I work at North Atlantic States Carpenters Benefits Funds as an Accounts Receivable Analyst. I’m also in school full time pursuing a degree in accounting. When I’m not working and in class/doing school work I’m spending time with my family. 

How is your nutrition? How has it changed since joining CrossFit True?

  • My nutrition could definitely be better. I’m actually going to start working with Coach Mia on my nutrition. 

What are your 3 favorite movements/exercises? 

-Running (sorry friends), Deadlift, and Split Jerk

What is your favorite style workout? (AMRAP, EMOM, Rounds for Time, etc)

-AMRAP

What about your favorite workout?

  • I can’t think of one at the moment… 

Any favorite workout songs? 

-Any Hip Hop song from the 2000’s 

Have you changed physically or mentally since you’ve been working out with us?

-I’ve changed both physically and mentally. I’m definitely stronger and I have more confidence when picking a weight. When I first started, I would tend to go on the lighter side. Now I am not afraid to try to go a bit heavier. 

What are your current goals?

  • My current goals are to work on my Toes to Bar, pull ups, and nutrition. 

How have your goals changed since you joined? 

  • I used to have a goal of getting that perfect body but now I have a goal of a healthier version of myself whatever that may look like! 

What has been the biggest surprise since joining CF True?

  • I was surprised at how quickly I was able to jump back into the swing of things  from being gone for about a year. I thought for sure I would struggle with the movements and it would take me a while to get back to the weights I was using. 

What can you do now that you couldn’t do before joining?

T2B and anything related to the bar.
