What made you choose CrossFit True?
I chose CFT for the community-centered atmosphere and the CFT community’s celebration of everyone’s goals, successes, and differences!
How long have you been training with us?
I’ve been training at CFT for a year and a half.
What has been your proudest moment in the past 90 days?
A bit more than 90 days ago, but I was really proud of myself for RXing 2 Open workouts this year; that’s not something that I would have been able to do during the 2023 open!
When you’re not at the gym, what do you do for work? What do you do for fun?
I’m currently a third-year medical student at Quinnipiac, so I’ll be spending the next two years rotating through various specialties at different hospitals and outpatient clinics. When I’m not learning medicine, I like to be outside hiking, riding bikes, enjoying the beach, or otherwise exploring.
How is your nutrition? How has it changed since joining CrossFit True?
For the most part, I try to think of food as fuel and eat intuitively based on what my body needs on a given day. As someone who is vegetarian for environmental reasons and gluten free for medical reasons, my meals consist mostly of plant-based proteins, brown rice, and vegetables. I mostly snack on fruits and veggies throughout the day, but I also have quite a sweet tooth and indulge when it feels right.
What are your 3 favorite movements/exercises?
Hang cleans, front squats, short runs 🙂
What is your favorite style workout? (AMRAP, EMOM, Rounds for Time, etc)
AMRAP
What about your favorite workout?
Anything during the open (:
Any favorite workout songs?
Big Bootie Mix, Volume 17
Have you changed physically or mentally since you’ve been working out with us?
Mentally, my relationship with fitness has changed. I’m in a place where I workout because I enjoy it and because being fit and healthy feels good for me.
What are your current goals?
In the gym, my current goals are to 1) work on stringing together toes to bar, 2) work towards stringing together more and more double unders, and 3) pull-ups!
I definitely recognize though that my goals change with different seasons of life. Right now, I’m in my hardest and most time-intensive clinical rotation of medical school, so my goal for the moment is to show up a few times per week and move my body (:
How have your goals changed since you joined?
My goals are constantly evolving. When I first joined, I wanted to get back to lifting the amount of weight that I was lifting in college. I haven’t quite hit that benchmark yet, but I’m realizing that I don’t necessarily need to define my success based on those numbers. My current goals focus more on mastering higher skill movements and using fitness as an outlet.
What has been the biggest surprise since joining CF True?
How wonderful the community is!
What can you do now that you couldn’t do before joining?
Double unders, some toes to bar, A2G squats (yay mobility!)
Say something else, Anything!
I’m so grateful for the CFT community!
