Athlete Spotlight: Katie

What made you choose CrossFit True?

  • I was always very intimidated by crossfit until I met Moe and the team at Crossfit True. During my on-boarding with Moe and Mia I felt very comfortable and motivated to try it out! 

How long have you been training with us?

  • Since 2022 

What has been your proudest moment in the past 90 days?

  • My proudest moment in the past 90 days was participating in the crossfit open (might be a little past 90 days but it’s worth mentioning because I’m super proud!).  I was able to do Rx weight for the final workout and planned to attempt one chest-to-bar. By an act of god I was able to do 24. Shout out to Marc Potts for not letting me stop at one! 

When you’re not at the gym, what do you do for work? What do you do for fun?

  • I work as a physician assistant at Yale in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. I love my job and find it incredibly fulfilling. The gym is a great way to decompress from the heaviness of it. I love to travel and do it as much a person with two small kids can ! 

How is your nutrition? How has it changed since joining CrossFit True?

  • My nutrition is pretty good-  I try to eat a clean diet and I dabble with intermittent fasting.  I participated in the ~800g fruit/vegetable challenge last year and do my best to maintain those habits. Since joining the gym I definitely prioritize protein in my diet. 

What are your 3 favorite movements/exercises? 

  • Toes to bar, dumbbell thrusters, running 

What is your favorite style workout? (AMRAP, EMOM, Rounds for Time, etc)

  • I love EMOMs and chippers 

What about your favorite workout?

  • I don’t know if I have one but I love the energy at the gym during the crossfit open. 

Any favorite workout songs? 

  • Anything upbeat 

Have you changed physically or mentally since you’ve been working out with us?

  • I feel a lot stronger and I walk taller since joining Crossfit True. 

What are your current goals?

  • Pull ups and double unders! 

How have your goals changed since you joined? 

  • My initial goal was to lean out after pregnancy but now I’m looking to build muscle. 

What has been the biggest surprise since joining CF True?

  • I love the community I found at the gym! I can only make it 2-3 days a week and I really look forward to seeing everyone when I’m there! 

What can you do now that you couldn’t do before joining?

  • Anything with a bar bell!
