What made you choose CrossFit True?
-Ed and I followed our friends Bob and Linda to CrossFit True – they were enjoying their personal training so much and kindly put us in touch with Moe to join them and form a small group class.
How long have you been training with us?
-I think we started in May of 2021.
What has been your proudest moment in the past 90 days?
-Returning to the gym so quickly after total knee replacement surgery felt pretty amazing – it was only possible because of Moe’s work in preparing me beforehand! And the Liftmas Couple award was fun at year-end, too.
When you’re not at the gym, what do you do for work? What do you do for fun?
-Work: professional yo-yo dieter. – Fun: work outdoors – lately focusing on perfecting my farmer’s carries during snowstorms.
How is your nutrition? How has it changed since joining CrossFit True?
–Moe is counselling me to help develop a consistent, sustainable plan that will even out the dramatic gain/loss swings and bring better longterm health.
What are your 3 favorite movements/exercises?
-1) Any circuit, I love them all! 2) Planks and anything that improves my core. 3) Ball Slams.
What is your favorite style workout? (AMRAP, EMOM, Rounds for Time, etc)
-Probably an EMOM
What about your favorite workout?
-As a creaky old personal training client, I haven’t had a lot of exposure to the CrossFit named workouts but maybe the Murph is the most significant because it makes us stop and reflect on Memorial Day.
Any favorite workout songs?
-Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin
Have you changed physically or mentally since you’ve been working out with us?
-Yes in so many ways! When I started personal training, my mobility was in decline and I was really stuck – how can I exercise if I can’t even walk? But Moe meets you where you are, showing you all the things you Can do, and helped me adjust my mental approach to health and fitness – in about 7 months I lost over 50 lbs with Moe’s guidance.
What are your current goals?
-Continuing post-op recovery while doing the pre-op work for the other knee.
How have your goals changed since you joined?
-I think all the athletes here are really inspiring and I’m hoping one of these days to be independent enough to sign up for classes.
What has been the biggest surprise since joining CF True?
-You can hear things about it, but nothing really prepares you for how supportive and inclusive the community here is.
What can you do now that you couldn’t do before joining?
-After 30+ years of trying, I can finally get my partner to work out with me – but Linda, Bob and of course Moe really all deserve the credit for this!
