What made you choose CrossFit True?

-In grad school, I stopped working out completely, and so moving to CT, my goal was to make room for my fitness. I searched nearby gyms and CrossFit True really stood out to me. 

How long have you been training with us?

-About a year and a half

What has been your proudest moment in the past 90 days?

-Attempting 24.2 Rx OR becoming a coach!! 

When you’re not at the gym, what do you do for work? What do you do for fun?

-I am a developmental cognitive neuroscientist and I research the development of attention and anxiety. Outside of work, I like to taste test craft beers, watch reality shows, or read to learn things outside of my field.

How is your nutrition? How has it changed since joining CrossFit True?

I’m actually very surprised at how much my nutrition has changed! I definitely now prioritize protein, vegetables, and whole foods, but also enjoy the things I like. Prior to grad school I was super restrictive and during grad school I stopped caring about my nutrition altogether, so this is a happy balance. 

What are your 3 favorite movements/exercises? 

-Dumbbell snatch, push press, deadlift

What is your favorite style workout? (AMRAP, EMOM, Rounds for Time, etc)


What about your favorite workout?

-I like a longer workout that requires pacing (done in zone 2 or not) or a chipper 

Any favorite workout songs? 

-Hip hop/rap from any decade really 

Have you changed physically or mentally since you’ve been working out with us?

-Mentally, I’ve gained some self-confidence & physically, I’ve lost 4 pant sizes!

What are your current goals?

-I want to get a pull up this year! Otherwise continuing to push myself with increasing barbell weight and skill work 

How have your goals changed since you joined? 

I was focused on losing weight when I joined but now I want to get strong 

What has been the biggest surprise since joining CF True?

-The community! I could not have ended up at a better gym – the support, the care, and the shared goals of this team are really motivating and inspiring. 

What can you do now that you couldn’t do before joining?

-I had never used a barbell before joining, so a lot!
